Hello Bidders: Due to space needs and lack of time to enjoy this car I am reluctantly offering my 1974 911 Carrera Targa. I purchased this car from a California owner a few years ago and had it shipped to me (enclosed) in South Carolina. Since that time it has resided in a climate controlled warehouse. I have started and run the car periodically to keep it happy. The 1974 Carrera was a special car in that it had the upgraded 2.7 liter engine but without the smog control (air pumps, thermal reactors, etc) that plagued later cars. The original heat exchangers are free flowing and efficient. The Carrera models came with fog lamps, higher horsepower than the standard 911, front and rear sway bars, a trumpet fender mounted oil cooler, larger brakes with stainless steel calipers and several other upgrades. This car is ONE OF ONLY 246 US Carrera Targas produced in 1974 (see the Porsche Red book). The 911 Carrera Targa was Porsche's most expensive street car available in the USA in 1974. This car was modified to a widebody by a previous owner but was well-done with metal flares. The original duck tail was replaced with a whale-tail at that time as well. Engine: The car runs beautifully and includes the original engine. When I purchased the car I had my local Porsche specialist (Protech Motorsports) do a complete rundown of any needs. Little was needed but all items were addressed and receipts are available. They did upgrade the valve covers to turbo covers, rebuild the pedal box, replace the clutch cables, four-wheel alignment and generally tune the car. No broken head studs or other issues. The car does not even leak oil! Suspension: The suspension is mainly stock. Sway bar bushings have been replaced, wheel spacers to better fit the fenders have been added. Interior: The interior is very clean. No crack on the dash. Carpet is like new. I installed seat belts for the rear seats for my kids. The drivers seat has a small tear at the bolster, but would not require a full re-cover to fix. All gauges work with the usual exception of the clock! I have an d will include the original tool kit, jack and owners manual. Body: No rust has been found anywhere on this car (it came from Southern California). The metal flares are worth a considerable amount if you wanted to go back to the stock components. The paint is in nice shape for the most part, but there are a few places that need attention if you want it to be perfect. Fixing these items would not require a full paint job. The targa top is in excellent shape and does not leak when washing the car (I don't drive it in the rain). I purchased this car with the intent to take it back to its beautiful stock look. It was originally Grand Prix White. I collected the proper fenders, mirrors and other items to do this. Along the way I started to appreciate the car the way it is, so those changes were never made. However, I will include the items I have in the sale if the buyer is interested. These items may require additional shipping costs. I do not have the ducktail, but many nice aftermarket options are available. I will also include several other items I have accumulated to go with this car. This car is listed for sale elsewhere and I reserve the right to end the auction if I sell it elsewhere. I am happy to answer your questions on this special car. Happy bidding!
